Marcel Alexandre, the main character featured within the animatic, crosses through the forests of 1600's France to observe the Musketeers' morning drills. As he witnesses their stances, he tries imitating them, as it's his dream to one day be a Musketeer and climb the social ladder. The following storyboard/animatic started as a project for SAE Creative Media Institute with ANI175 Project 1-2. The genre was largely inspired to be an action/adventure with a coming-of-age element to the young Marcel.

In order to create more believability that the setting takes place in 1600's-1700's France, I would embark my research through understanding the different forests of said country.
By searching through “Forests of France,” I was able to reference the structure and arrangement of trees, especially by incorporating more parallel lines, and illustrating them in the background panels of Shots 1, 2, 3, 7, 15, 16 and 17.

Additionally, for when designing the younger version of Marcel, I would gain inspiration from Antoine Le Nain’s paintings of French Peasants during 1600’s, with elements of baggy clothes and dirt patches of Peasant children which can be conveyed through Young Marcel’s costume design.
